SSA Summer Camp 2026

Hello SSA Camp Families! We hope that you will be able to join SSA at one of our camp sessions during the summer of 2026!

 

  • REGISTRATIONS are due by Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
  • TUITION is due by Tuesday, June 30, 2026

 

SSA Summer Music Camp is open to students who currently play violin, viola, cello, or bass. Camp Presto and Camp Vivace are sleep-away camp sessions for students in grades 6 - 8 and 9 - 12, and Chamber Music Day Camp is for students in grades 4 - 12.

 

Tuition payments:

We strongly prefer checks or money orders. If you are able, please mail a check or money order made out to 'Superior String Alliance' to our address at P.O. Box 52, Marquette, MI 49855. If you absolutely need to pay tuition via debit or credit card, you are able to pay online via our Paypal donation page. In order to offset Paypal fees, we request that you please add 2% of your tuition bill to your Paypal payment ($275+$5.50=$280.50, $720+$14.40=$734.40, $895+$17.90=$912.90). Please also send us an email letting us know that you paid online, and the name of your child.

 

Scholarships:

  • Scholarships are need-based, please apply in the online registration form.
  • If you are applying for a scholarship: you will receive an email from SSA within a week after you register letting you know the scholarship amount we are able to give you.

2026 Camp Dates & Registration:

 

SSA CHAMBER MUSIC DAY CAMP (grades 4 - 12, small group intensive)

  • Dates: Monday, July 13 - Friday July 17, 2026
  • Times: 9am - 12pm each day
  • Final Concert: 12pm on Friday, July 17 (about an hour long)
  • Where: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Marquette, Michigan
  • Participants: Students who will be in grades 4 – 12 in the fall of 2026, and for graduating seniors in the class of 2026. Must have experience playing violin, viola, cello, or bass.
  • Number of students: 12 - 20
  • Instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass
  • Faculty: Dani Simandl (violin, viola), Ben Campbell (violin, viola), Adam Hall (cello), Harry South (bass).
  • Activities: Chamber groups (small groups without a conductor) organized by ability level, technique and musicianship workshops, chamber music masterclasses, final camper concert.
  • Overall characteristics: Immersive, engaging, and supportive!
  • Tuition: $275

SSA CAMP VIVACE (high school sleep-away camp)

  • Dates: Monday 8/3/26 - Friday 8/7/26
  • Check-in: Monday, August 3, 1pm – 2pm CT (Crystal Falls is in the central time zone)
  • Check-out: Friday, August 7, 7pm CT 
  • Final Concert: 6pm CT on Friday, August 7 (about an hour long)
  • Where: Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp, Crystal Falls, MI
  • Participants: Students who will be in grades 9 – 12 in the fall of 2026, and for graduating seniors in the class of 2026. Must have experience playing violin, viola, cello, or bass.
  • Number of students: 25 - 45
  • Instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass
  • Faculty: 15 - 25 professional string musicians
  • Activities: Orchestra, more orchestra, private lessons, chamber groups, improvisation workshops, bonfire, field games, final camper concert
  • Overall characteristics: Immersive, engaging, and supportive!
  • Tuition: $895

SSA CAMP PRESTO (middle school sleep-away camp)

  • Dates: Sunday 8/9/26 - Wednesday 8/12/26
  • Check-in: Sunday, August 9, 1pm – 2pm CT (Crystal Falls is in the central time zone)
  • Check-out: Wednesday, August 12, 7pm CT
  • Final Concert: 6pm CT on Wednesday, August 12 (about an hour long)
  • Where: Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp, Crystal Falls, MI
  • Participants: Students who will be in grades 6 - 8 in the fall of 2026 who already have experience playing violin, viola, cello, or bass.
  • Number of students: 25 - 45
  • Instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass
  • Faculty: 15 - 25 professional string musicians
  • Activities: Orchestra, more orchestra, private lessons, chamber groups, improvisation workshops, bonfire, field games, final camper concert
