Auditions

All Camp Vivace and Camp Presto campers will audition for orchestra and chamber ensemble placement. Auditions also help SSA staff members better understand and anticipate each student’s needs.

 

How auditions work:

1. Campers need to download the audition sheet that corresponds to their session and instrument (links to audition sheets found below).
2. Campers will then practice the scale and orchestra excerpt they just downloaded. Y'all have about a week to practice. You've got this!
3. Vivace campers** only: if you are interested in auditioning to perform an Honors Solo at the Camp Vivace Final Concert, also practice your solo. 
4. All campers, you will need to either a.) send a recorded audition to SSA by the evening of Tuesday, July 29th OR b.) you will sign up for a live audition at the SSA office. These live auditions will occur between Sunday, July 27th - Tuesday, July 29th. More directions on recording or auditioning live found below the sheet music links! 

**Camp Vivace Honors Solo:
Camp Vivace campers will have the opportunity to audition to play an Honors Solo at the Final Concert. This is a special opportunity for Camp Vivace campers to perform a prepared solo. Vivace campers are NOT required to audition for an Honors Solo but are highly encouraged!

Okay campers! You have (2) options for auditions this year! Both options will occur before camp starts so that we can hit the ground running and optimize our time together when we are at camp!

 

1. You can sign up for a live audition at the SSA office (located at 112 W. Washington Street, Suite H, Marquette MI 49855). Here is the sign-up link!
2. OR you can opt to send SSA a recording of your audition. Please use a phone to record everything in one video. Play your scale, and then your excerpt. Camp Vivace campers auditioning for an Honors Solo, please play the first 30 seconds, the most challenging 30 seconds in the middle, and the last 30 seconds of your piece. All campers sending an audition recording, please either make an unlisted YouTube video and email us the link OR email us your audition video via WeTransfer (it's really easy to use and email a larger video file from a phone). Please make sure the video is set up so the viewer can see your whole instrument, and bow. Your recorded audition is due by the evening of Tuesday, July 29th. Email SSA at our regular email address, which you have but we won't list here in order to avoid internet spam :)!
